Dual Credit Courses: Information for Students & Parents
What is a dual credit course?
Dual credit courses provide high school students the opportunity to take college credit–bearing courses while enrolled in high school. Dual credit courses are taught at the high school by high school instructors approved by the partnering college or university to teach a college-level course. Students gain exposure to the academic rigor of college in a supportive high school environment, earning transcript college credit upon successful completion of the course.
What dual credit courses are available at Hamilton Central School?
The following SUNY Morrisville dual credit courses are offered at Hamilton Central School; not all courses may be offered each year:
• AGEN 100 – Equipment Care & Maintenance (3 credits, full-year course)
• ANSC 100 – Animal Science & Industry (3 credits, full-year course)
• ENSC 100 – Introduction to Environmental Science (3 credits, full-year course)
• ENSC 101 – Agricultural Science (3 credits, full-year course)
• HORT 210 – Horticulture Practices II (2 credits, full-year course)
How do I register to earn college credit for a dual credit course?
Students who wish to register to earn SUNY Morrisville credit for the dual credit course(s) at their high school will be required to submit the College in the High School Course Registration form. This form will be submitted electronically, and the web link will be sent to the high school instructor for distribution to all interested students in late October. The deadline to register for dual credit coursework this year will be Friday, January 9, 2026.
How much does it cost to register for a dual credit course?
The cost to high school students enrolled in SUNY Morrisville dual credit coursework is $50 per credit ($150 per 3- credit course). Students can pay by check/money order. The check/money order should be made out to SUNY Morrisville and mailed to the address listed below. Payment is due no later than Monday, January 26, 2026.

How can I request a copy of my SUNY Morrisville transcript?
Students can request an official copy of their SUNY Morrisville transcript electronically through Transcripts Plus (accessible through their SUNY Morrisville student portal called Web for Students) or by submitting a completed Transcript Request Form to the Registrar’s Office in person or by mail. The cost for each transcript ordered is $10.

SUNY Morrisville Course Descriptions
AGEN 100 – Equipment Care & Maintenance (3 credits)
Care, adjustments and overall maintenance of gasoline and diesel power applications. Servicing, fuel systems, lubrication, cooling, exhaust systems, clutch and brake adjustments and hydraulic systems will be covered. Principles of safety as applied to mobile machinery are emphasized. The course is designed for basic competency skills in care and maintenance. 3 credits (2 lecture hours, 2 laboratory hours)
ANSC 100 – Animal Science & Industry (3 credits)
This is a concurrent enrollment course with designated high schools to acquaint high school students with animal science and industry. It offers an introduction to farm and companion animal production and its affiliated industries with emphasis on the biological nature of animals, infrastructures and economic uniqueness of affiliated industries, animal products and services, and the management of animal enterprises. 3 credits (minimum of 45 lecture hours), spring semester
ENSC 100 – Introduction to Environmental Science (3 credits)
A dual-credit course with designated high schools to acquaint selected high school students with the basic principles of environmental science-topics such as soils, water, air, energy, wildlife, IPM, population ecology, forestry and waste management will be covered. Students will design and carry out a long-term project which will be based on a current environmental issue. 3 credits (minimum of 45 lecture class hours), spring semester
ENSC 101 – Agricultural Science (3 credits)
Basic introduction to general agricultural and life science principles as an aid to the understanding of plant, animal and soil functions, as well as fundamental computations as applied to agricultural production. This course is intended for non-ENSC majors. 3 credits (3 lecture hours), fall or spring semester This course satisfies the Liberal Arts and Sciences requirement and the SUNY General Education Requirement for Natural Sciences (and Scientific Reasoning).
HORT 210 – Horticulture Practices II (2 credits)
Horticulture Practices is a series of courses designed to engage students in a wide range of horticulture practices. These practices include methods acceptable by both commercial and research sectors of the Green Industry. HORT 210 is a sophomore-level course which continues to introduce students to the basics while adding advanced production skills and technology. The level of students’ crop and entrepreneurial responsibilities will also increase. 2 credits (1 lecture hour, 2 laboratory hours), spring semester.

Dual Credit Program: Natural Disasters (ESC 195)
Hamilton Central School is excited to partner with SUNY Brockport to offer students the opportunity to enroll in ESC 195 – Natural Disasters, a four-credit college course taught right at Hamilton by an approved high school instructor. Through this partnership, students gain exposure to college-level expectations while learning in the supportive environment of their high school classroom.
What is a SUNY Brockport dual credit course?
Dual credit courses allow high school students to earn transcripted, transferable college credit upon successful completion. Courses are taught by high school instructors who have been vetted and approved by SUNY Brockport to teach at the college level. Students experience rigorous college academics while completing coursework during the regular school day.
What course is available at Hamilton Central School?
ESC 195 – Natural Disasters (4 credits)
This engaging science course examines the causes and impacts of natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and volcanic eruptions. Students explore how scientists study these events and how communities prepare for and respond to them.
How do I register to earn SUNY Brockport credit?
Students who wish to earn SUNY Brockport credit will complete an online registration form distributed by the high school instructor during the registration window. Additional instructions, key dates, and support will be provided directly to students in class.
What does it cost?
SUNY Brockport is committed to making early-college opportunities affordable for all families.
2025-2026 Standard tuition for the course: $306.80
2025-2026 Reduced tuition rate (for eligible students): $166.80
Tuition covers all four SUNY credits. Payment instructions are provided during the registration process.
Will these credits transfer?
Yes. SUNY Brockport credits are highly transferable:
Within SUNY: ESC 195 fulfills SUNY General Education requirements and transfers smoothly to SUNY two- and four-year institutions.
Across New York State: Brockport credits are widely accepted by private colleges and universities throughout the state.
Out of State: Many colleges nationwide recognize Brockport coursework, especially in the natural sciences and general education categories.
While transfer policies vary by institution, students typically experience successful transfer outcomes. Students are encouraged to contact the admissions office of their intended college for confirmation.
