National Suicide Prevention Month Fact of the Day: There were 49,430 suicides among individuals ages 12 and older in 2022. But suicides are just the tip of the iceberg. For every one suicide death, there were about 11 emergency department visits for self-harm, 52 self-reported suicide attempts in the past year and 336 people who seriously considered suicide in the past year. These numbers show that the potential for deaths by suicide is even larger than statistics report which is why being aware of suicide signs and risk factors is so important! If you, or someone you know, may be experiencing suicidal ideations or thoughts, please tell a trusted adult as soon as possible. Throughout all of these conversations, just know that you are all important, you are all loved, and you are all integral building blocks to the foundation of our HCS family and you are all needed in order for our HCS community to shine as bright as it does.

The Cross Country Team had their Home Meet on The Colgate Trails last night. There was a great spectator turnout with the entire Colgate Cross Country Team in attendance besides the many family and friends of all the athletes. For the boys, Matt Berry completed the 5K race in 18 minutes and 36 seconds, almost a minute ahead of number 2. Birthday Boy Rowan Speck came in second for Hamilton, followed by Andrew Holm, Gavin Moshier, then Drew Baker, and Hero Sinsawat. For the girls, June Loranty came in first in 23 minutes and 13 seconds, and thus clearly recovered from her cold, followed by sister Cora Loranty 4 minutes later, and then Clare Roller, Liliana Hagos, Julia Peck, Ingrida Morkevicius, Anna Platt, Sophia Juarez, and then Ainsley Grawrock. Good job to all our 15 runners! And thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help make this Home Meet successful including several of the XC parents as well as Coach Hanson and Coach Carroll. Go Hamilton!
