Today’s lunch menu: Taco salad w/baked tortilla chips, fiesta rice, salsa & sour cream, fruit and milk.

Attention music students. Any middle school or high school music student who would like to audition for All-County band, orchestra or chorus should sign up with their music teacher. There is a $7.00 fee. Please bring in your $7.00 ASAP. If paying by check, please make out checks to “HCS Band Fund”.

Any 6th-8th grade student interested in an afterschool club where you can Try stuff, test experiments, make new recipes, collaborate on something you’re interested in with a friend, please come to an interest meeting in Mrs. Chamberlain’s room Thursday during MS lunch. This will just be a meeting to see how many people are interested.

Reminder to ALL FFA members that apple & cheese order forms are due next Thursday October 3rd with all the money accounted for. You can give your order forms to either Mrs. Chamberlain or Mrs. Bossard.

Junior and Seniors - Tomorrow Wednesday, September 25th from 6:00pm - 7:15pm we will be holding a virtual College and Financial Aid Night. Experts from Colgate and SUNY Morrisville will be sharing valuable information about the financial aid and college admission processes. The link to join is: https://meet.google.com/mpf-eqiu-taj. Attention HS Students: If you’re finding a class challenging and feel like some extra help could make a difference, we are offering the opportunity to work with a Colgate student tutor! This is a great way to get personalized support and boost your confidence in the subject. PSAT sign ups are now open to College bound Juniors and 10th graders taking Algebra II. The exam will be held on Wednesday, October 23rd. The fee for the exam is $18 and payment is due by October 16th. Please stop by the Counseling Office to sign up!

Freshman be on the lookout for a letter being mailed home with information about joining the Madison County Leadership Group. This group runs once a week on Thursday’s during lunch. You will have the opportunity to participate in fun activities that help to strengthen your leadership skills. Please see Mrs. Pustay for more information.

The Colgate High School Seminar Fall Session I begins tomorrow after school! Students who registered have been sent an email with their individual class instructions. A copy was provided in forum as well. Please see Ms. Inman if you have any questions, or did not receive your registration information.

Attention 6th graders: Good News! The HOG deadline has been extended! If you had been thinking about joining, but didn’t get a chance to grab a permission slip, get one today and return to the Counseling Office by Friday morning! This is a chance to do fun outdoor activities on Friday afternoon this fall with friends.

A friendly reminder to all students - please be sure to check your email on a regular basis for important announcements. Also, remember to check into your IWT or scheduled class before coming to the Counseling Office for a scheduled meeting.

Attention NJHS Members: There will be a lunch meeting today for current 8th grade members. Please grab your lunch and head to Ms. White’s room when the bell rings. We will be voting for officers and discussing community service. All current NJHS members should attend.

There will be a MANDATORY meeting for NHS members (not candidates) today at the beginning of lunch in room 210. Yes, that’s during lunch, so plan accordingly.

National Suicide Prevention Month Fact of the Day: Lesbian, gay and bisexual youth are 4x more likely to attempt suicide than straight youth.

Transgender adults are nearly 9x more likely to attempt suicide at some point in their life compared to their peers. If you, or someone you know, may be experiencing suicidal ideations or thoughts, please tell a trusted adult as soon as possible. Throughout all of these conversations, just know that you are all important, you are all loved, and you are all integral building blocks to the foundation of our HCS family and you are all needed in order for our HCS community to shine as bright as it does.

Also, tomorrow we will be starting an activity for National Suicide Prevention Month in the main lobby with more information coming tomorrow in forum. If you have a Mental Health Matters shirt or any apparel promoting mental health awareness, please wear it tomorrow!

Athletic News:

The Girls Varsity Soccer Team suffered their first setback of the year last night to Cazenovia, the game played at Beyer-Small Field @ Colgate University. Ellie Freeth made 6 saves in the goal. No time to fret, as the team returns to league play today at home vs. Remsen @ 4:30pm.

On Friday JV Boys soccer journeyed to Cooperstown and brought home a 2-0 win. Luke Morkevicius had both goals with assists to Parker Matson and Thomas Roy. Trent Murray stood strong in net with 5 saves keeping the shut out. It was a great team win!

The boys modified soccer team beat Town of Webb yesterday by a score of 4-0. Scoring for the Knights was Thomas Jackson with two, Liam Darrow with one, and Teddy Craven with one. Charlie George and Lukas Sirtoli each had one assist apiece. The Knights had a fantastic defensive effort, highlighted by Iain Dosanjh’s six saves in net. The team plays again on the road Wednesday at Poland. Great job everyone!

The boys’ varsity soccer team picked up a league win, beating the Town of Webb last night, 6-1. Points earners for the Knights were: Luke Langel with two goals and one assist, Levi Neuenschwander with two goals, Gavin Hames with one goal and three assists, Matthias Page-Fagon with one goal, and Teddy Freeth with two assists. Cooper Roy made five saves to secure the win. The team plays tomorrow at Poland.
