Athletic News:

Last Friday, the boys’ varsity soccer team won a thrilling semi-final game in double overtime to advance to the state finals. Levi Neuenschwander and Gavin Snyder both scored in regulation time. Snyder assisted Levi’s goal while Gavin Hames assisted on Snyder’s. With the game tied at the end of 80 minutes, the team went scoreless through the first OT. In the second OT period, Luke Langel passed the ball to Hames, who scored the golden-goal game-winner to send the team on to the final. Cooper Roy made seven saves in the win. In the state championship on Saturday, the Emerald Knights beat Northville by a score of 3-0 to claim the New York State Class D Boys’ Soccer Championship. Gavin Hames scored all three goals for the Knights. His first came just 37 seconds into the game as he scored directly off a corner kick. In the second half Hame struck again, scoring on a breakaway pass from Colin Olsen. His third goal came on a penalty kick awarded for a handball in the box by the Northville defense. Cooper made eight saves in the game to secure his eighth shutout of the season. The team would like to thank all the fans who traveled to support the team, and to thank its seniors for a tremendous and memorable season!
