Hey Juniors and Seniors: Colgate University invites eligible HCS students to enroll in one class during the Spring Semester. This 14-week course provides a Colgate credit, typically transferrable to other colleges. Take time over the long holiday break to explore course options (www.colgate.edu/courses) and plan ahead. High School Students have been invited to participate in the Colgate University ALANA Cultural Center’s 4th annual Social Justice Summit, scheduled for Saturday, February 1, 2025. This year’s theme Shaping Equitable Communities and Sustainable Just Environments, will have participants interrogating the variety of ways we can contribute toward positive change. The deadline to register is Tuesday, January 28, 2025. The registration fee is $20.00 or $30.00 if you choose to include a Social Justice Summit sweatshirt. Athletic News:
Last night the boy’s varsity basketball team traveled to New York Mills, coming out on top 76-38. The defense was strong, especially in the 3rd quarter, as the team kept New York Mills scoreless. Leading the way for the Knights were Drew Baker and Bryce Wright each with a double-double. Drew had 23 points and 16 rebounds and Bryce had 21 points and 13 rebounds while Teddy Freeth chipped in with 12 points. The team plays again on Friday at Fabius-Pompey.
The Girls Varsity basketball team improved their record to 3-0 with a hard fought win over Cooperstown 42-34. Rihana Dye led all scorers with 16 points. Logan Langel had 12 points and 5 assists. Nice job girls.
The indoor track season is off to a running start. Hamilton competed in the Mohawk Valley Kick off last Saturday and the Oscar B Jensen meet at Hamilton College yesterday. On Saturday, Claire Filipowicz competed in the 600 meter and 300 meter race, clenching a 4th place finish in the 600 meter with a personal best of 1:51 and Matt Berry raced the 1600 meter with an 8th place finish and 300 meter. Yesterday, at Hamilton College Gavin Moshier raced in the 300 meter in 51.65 and 600 meter in 1:52 at his debut meet marking up two personal bests. Finally, Matt Berry brought home three personal records, racing the 1600m in 4:53 with a 6th place finish, the 600m in 1:38 and a 300m in 43.40.
Modified Volleyball played in Waterville last night. 7th grade lost. Ally Catania had 7 aces, 4 kills, and 2 digs. 8th grade fought hard and won 2-1. Skye Nelson had 6 aces, 1 kill, 4 digs, and 2 assists. Chloe Gridley had 7 aces, 11 kills, 6 digs, and 1 assist.
