Welcome back everyone and Happy New Year!

For anyone that has made a resolution to better themselves in some way, remember that it takes at least two (2) weeks to make the change a habit. Focus and work hard to make 2025 a great year.

Reminder, the second marking period ends in three (3) weeks - January 24th. Do your best to get back into the swing of things after the long break and finish the second quarter strong.

There is a Mathletics Meet this Saturday, January 11th at VVS. Our bus will leave HCS promptly at 7:55 AM and we will return at approximately 12:15 PM. Permission slips are available on the poster by room 117. Please return signed permission forms to Mrs. Lehmann by 3 PM on Friday, January 10th.

Jazz band will not meet today.

Middle School Tech Club meets today during MS lunch in Room 218. Considering the start of a new year, 2025 no less, any middle schooler interested in creating and editing digital content for the school is welcome to attend this meeting. No editing experience required as it is all about learning.

Attention all senior high music students: If you have not done so already, please turn in your money for the candy sale. There are several people who have not yet turned in their money. Please turn it in by the end of this week so we can settle up this account.

Counseling News:

Juniors and Seniors interested in enrolling in a Colgate class during the Spring Semester should get their application into the Counseling Center ASAP. Please get course approval from the Professor and bring your form to Ms. Torre for approval and to ensure it fits in your HCS schedule.

Registration is still open for interested high school students for the Spring Session III of the Colgate HS Seminar Program. This free program is a fantastic opportunity to introduce you to college-level topics, while providing a glimpse into the college experience. Registration deadline is January 20, 2025. Athletic News:

Over the break, the boy’s varsity basketball team defeated Fabius-Pompey 89-45 on Friday, December 20th, improving their record to 5-0 on the season. Drew Baker led all scoring with 27 points and 9 rebounds. The team then participated in the Downtown Classic at the Nexus Center in Utica where they took on last year’s Class D State Finalist Sackets Harbor. The Knights held a 3 point lead going into the 2nd half which they turned into a 20 point victory with a final score of 62-42. Teddy Freeth led the team with 15 points, followed by Luke Langel with 14, while Bryce Wright added 8 points and 10 rebounds. Teddy Freeth was named Player of the Game. The team plays tomorrow and travels to Sauquoit.

Modified Boys Basketball will be in the High School gym from 3:00-4:30 today.

The Varsity Girls Basketball team had some mixed success over the winter break. The team started out the break with a 45-36 victory over AAA Fayetteville-Manlius. The team also participated in the Cooperstown holiday tournament but came up on the short end losing to Unatego 49-38 and Delaware Valley 53-48. The team hopes to get back on track Tuesday night at Cazenovia.

The JV Girls Basketball team improved their record to 5-0 winning the Cooperstown Holiday tournament defeating Unatego in overtime 40-31 and Delaware Valley 38-21. Congratulations girls.

Congratulations to Gavin Hames and Levi Neuenschwander for being named to the All-CNY first-team all-stars for soccer.
