Attention member of middle school student council. If you volunteered to make posters for the middle school dance and were not at the meeting yesterday, please see Mrs. Roy today. All posters must be turned in by this Wednesday.

Over the weekend, we had 10 of our middle and high school music students participate in an intense two days of rehearsals and performances at Canastota High School for the MCMEA Spring All County Festival. Congratulations to the following students: Julia Peck who performed in the HS Band; Tian Xing Zheng and Anna Lee Shoemaker who performed in the 7-8 Band; Hazel Harnik, Natalie Keating, Kiley White, and Skye Nelson who performed in the 7-8 Orchestra; Abigail VanSteinburg, Anastasia Barnhardt, and Ellie Alfonso who participated in the 5-6 Chorus.

On Saturday, 12 of our FFA students traveled to the Adirondack High School to compete in sub-states for their public speaking contests. All members worked incredibly hard to prepare for their event. For our jr. members, we had three members compete in a very competitive jr. creed speaking competition, Mia Pennington, Cia Duclos & Hazel Fox. Three members competed in jr. extemporaneous speaking Miles Broedel, Neel Davray & Ally Catania, with Ally Catania placing 3rd. Dora Palmer & Brynley Bossard competed in jr. prepared speaking, with Dora Palmer placing 3rd. Brent Baker competed in Jr. People in Ag. For our sr. members Bre Craven competed in sr. extemporaneous speaking. Ellie Olsen competed in employment skills, placing 3rd and Ava Bohnert competed in sr. creed speaking. Ava placed first and will continue on to represent district 5 at the state level in May! Congratulations to all, your advisors are incredibly proud of you.

Counseling News:

Attention Seniors: Scholarship information is now available! Be sure to check the senior classroom for details and complete the Google form. Stop by the counseling office to pick up applications, if you have any questions, see Ms. Inman!

Hey Juniors: You have until this Thursday, March 20th to complete the Google Form published by Mrs. Poyer. This form makes you eligible for college scholarship awards presented at our high school awards ceremony in early June. If you want to be considered for a nomination, you must complete the form by this Thursday - no exceptions.

Sophomore students interested in taking the PreACT should sign up in the counseling center by March 26, 2025. This is a firm deadline to allow for test administration preparation. The fee is $19 cash, check or money orders payable to HCS.

9th and 10th Grade Girls are eligible to join Girls Circle-an 8-week group focused on friendship, creativity, and self-discovery! Enjoy discussions, crafts, and a fun way to connect with others. Starting March 26, 2025, Girls Circle will meet on Wednesdays and Fridays from 12:30 - 1:00 pm. Permission slips were handed out in forum or pick one up in the counseling office.
