Registration/Enrollment Process at Hamilton Central School (HCS)

Hello and welcome to the Hamilton community!  We look forward to meeting you and your child/children and accompanying them on their academic journey. The guideline below will help you begin the process of registering.

We know that starting a new school can be difficult and scary for students and we will try to make the transition for you and your child as simple and worry free as possible,

Please contact Debbie Kirley, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent at 315-824-6310, to determine if your address falls within the HCS District.

To enroll, please contact one of the offices listed below:

HCS is divided into two buildings at: 47 West Kendrick Avenue, Hamilton, NY 13346

    1. Elementary School - Grades PreK-5: Office # 315-824-6330
    2. Middle School/High School - Grades 6-12: Office # 315-824-6327

The grade level of your child will determine which office you register with.  Call and make an appointment to complete the paperwork and to meet the school counselor assigned to your child and tour our school.
An enrollment form can be found online (Parent Info --> Forms).
A separate form will be required for each child. There is also additional paperwork that must be completed in person by the parent/guardian of the child when you come in for your appointment.

When you come in to enroll, please bring any paperwork such as schedules, transcripts, IEP’s, etc., this will assist the counselors in developing a schedule for your child.  HCS will contact the prior school for all records once you have completed all the paperwork.

    Additional Information:

Divorced/separated families:  Please bring any legal documents such as court papers that identify who has physical custody, if joint custody or if only one parent has guardianship, we must have this paperwork in our records otherwise, legally, biological parents have equal rights under education law and the school cannot prevent a biological parent from school grounds.

Special education:  If your child has a 504 plan or an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) from the previous school, please contact the special education office at 315-824-6350 and we can provide you with information regarding the programs that HCS currently have in place for students with academic challenges.

If English is not the primary language of your child, please advise the counselor/secretary at the time of enrollment.

If you and/or your child is living in temporary housing due to unforeseen circumstances, there is a form in the registration packet to complete and sign.
