Video Conferening
Bringing the World to our Students
Through the use of video conferencing equipment and applications such as Skype and iChat, HCS students and teachers are able to welcome cultures from around the globe into their teaching. With a few clicks of a button or keyboard, students are interacting with their peers, professionals, experts, and educational institutions from around the world. Students are embracing differing cultures through real interactions.
Imagine meeting with a Pearl Harbor survivor in Hawaii, touring an Egyptian mummification exhibit at a museum in the mid-west, or sharing cultural traditions with third graders in Japan. Imagine no more-it is time to experience the world without leaving the doors of HCS.

On Friday, December 3rd, HCS third graders connected via Skype with third graders in Osaka, Japan to share holiday cultures. Each group sang "12 Days of Christmas" and shared what they would like for Christmas. It was wonderful to listen to some of the things that student wanted under their tree including green energy, a healthy family, clean oceans, love, caring, books for everyone, and, of course, a few toys, gadgets, and games too! We are proud of both groups for doing such an outstanding job! We look forward to many more connections between HCS third graders and the third graders at Kanadi Elementary School in Osaka, Japan. Our thanks to all who made this connection possible (both here at HCS and in Japan)!
